Hi, I'm new to the group. Just started collecting. Hope I'm posting in the right place. I collect Grenada. Question: Three stamps are issued in 1951 and have a certain value. Then they are issued in 1955 with a different value. They look exactly the same. How do you tell the difference? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

There may be none other than the value. Many countries issued new stamps by taking previously used printing plates and reworking the number tablets or other details, as a cost savings measure, especially when the plates were prepared using time-consuming hand engraving or hand-cut dies. And, there may be other very small details that are not apparent on first glance. You would need to post clear, good resolution scans of your stamps for others to comment.

I know that 4 definitives were issued in 51 with a ship

The same ones were reissued in 55 but they changed the Royal Cypher, not obvious at first glance.

New queen in 53 = new cypher

Welcome AvroArrow:

You're on the right track. Some stamp identification can be 'beastly' to say the least

But it all boils down to careful reading and comparing images of the possibilities. A good catalog helps; and of course, keep asking questions here on SCF
