I have come across an Albanian Figures of Freedom stamp before it was re-drawn with the corrected "Churchill" but instead reads "Churcill". Does anyone know where I could find some more info on this? Thanks!

Interesting! Do you also have the re-drawn issue?

Good job, I'd rather have two errors over one normal stamp any day!

Thank you kuhli! Love the history behind this series. It did mention the misspelling but that is all it did was mention it. But this gives me something to go on! Thanks!

Although it is an error in the sense that Churchill was misspelled, really these were printed in huge quantities and the error was not corrected for this specific series (probably printed in Europe but not known by who)

This particular one was part of the 2nd group of stamps. Issued purely to sell to collectors and were never intended to be used on mail.

The later "corrected" version (with new portrait for FDR) was printed in the United States (in new multiple values and colors) - probably by Henry Stolow (of Maluku Selatan fame). They were re-designed and printed using a totally different method.

Again, the final sets were printed and sold to collectors never authorized or used on mail.
