As you can probably put together from my previous 2 posts I have come across a pretty big Roosevelt collection. One of the pages contains 5 examples of what is listed as Surcharge errors. I will note the "errors" with each stamp. Any info that anyone may have would be greatly appreciated!

"4" and Lire 4" instead of "4 Lire"

What country are these?

I think your three posts would have better luck of a knowledgeable response in the appropriate "World" (probably Modern?) forum. This forum is "non-country specific" and the questions you are asking can probably only be answered by someone familiar with the specific country of the stamps you are asking about.

The top of the Page says San Marino but they are all Roosevelt stamps. I will try posting in the "world" forum as well. Thanks!

The post above is supposed to illustrate five San Marino Roosevelt stamps, each with errors, but in two cases the wrong image is given. The first Monaco image should be the 4 lire Roosevelt overprint (Sassone A70g) and the second Monaco image should be an inverted overprint, but we don't know which one.

The remaining three stamps are all catalogued in Sassone from the 1947 set of overprints. The first is the 3 lire with double overprint, one inverted. The stamp is Sassone 307c and is catalogued at 3,000 euros. The catalogue has a special note about that stamp saying only six copies are known, all mint.
The second is the 6 lire with double overprint. It is Sassone 309b and has a catalogue value of 280 euros. The third is the 6 lire with misplaced vertical perforations at right. My italian isn't quite good enough to be certain about this one, but I think it is Sassone 309ia, with a catalogue value of 100 euros. The description is:
Dentellatura destra fortemente spostata a sinistra (bordo di foglio a destra).

The catalogue listing for the various overprint "errors" is about ten times as long as the listing for the normal stamps so the ones shown are just a few among many. None are priced used and although you can speculate as to whether these are genuine errors, or stamps made to order for collectors by the printer, they are granted full status in the catalogue.

Nicely used ones, without errors, are valued at the princely sum of 50 cents!
