The Postal Regulatory Commission (PRC) has just approved today the rate increase requested by the US Postal Service for all but the one ounce "Forever" stamp which will remain at 49-cents:

http://www.prc.gov/press-releases/p...stments/3418

Stamp collectors can look forward to new issues likely coming out in the next few months to accommodate the new rates, including:

A 22-cent stamp for the second ounce of First Class Mail
A 71-cent stamp for the combined two ounce rate for First Class Mail
A 93-cent stamp for the combined three ounce rate for First Class Mail
A 35-cent stamp for the new Postcard Rate.

It will also render the recently issued 70-cent Vintage Tulip stamp obsolete (although it will likely be re-issued in a 71-cent denomination).

It would be nice if they came out with 2-ounce "forever" stamps, and/or a forever stamp for the 2nd ounce, currently 21 cents.

Also for international mail:

Outbound Single-Piece First-Class Mail (first ounce) will increase by 5 cents to $1.20.
Non-machinable Outbound Single-Piece First-Class Mail will increase to $1.42.
Outbound Single-Piece Postcards will increase to $1.20.

Any word about domestic and international parcel rates? Priority mail, express and registered mail rates?

Anyone know the new price for international 2nd ounce? Will 2nd ounce to Canada still be no extra charge?

I'm not sure I understand this correctly:

Quote:

Non-machinable Outbound Single-Piece First-Class Mail will increase to $1.42.

Does this mean a non-machinable (stiffened, for example) one-ounce letter will now be $1.42 instead of the current 70 cents? I hope that's not the case.

Current Nonmachinable letter rate for International First Class Mail is $1.15(1st ounce) plus a $0.21 surcharge or $1.36; new rate will be $1.42 or a 6c increase.

Ok, if that's the international mail rate, that's not so bad. I was afraid they were talking about domestic mail.
