The most recent Scott catalog I have for Montserrat is 2000. It identifies Sc 94, the 1 1/2 p rose violet stamps as design A8 (Carr' Bay) whereas the stamp clearly is Sea Island Cotton, design A9.

Has Scott corrected this catalog listing error in the newer catalogs?

Thanks

Don

Yes. I have the 2013 version of Scott (J-M) and it is listed correctly.

Thanks, Neeskens13. A 1991 catalog had both the 1d and 1 1/2d stamps listed as design A8, then my 2000 catalog had the 1d corrected to A9, but not the 1 1/2. I was just curious.

I don't know how Scott lists this, but Gibbons has the 1½d perf 13 at £1.25 and the perf 14 at £0.50. It also lists the stamp with the 'A' in the 'CA' in the watermark missing (mint only) at £1400. Worth checking the watermark, I'd say!

tonymacg:

My older 2000 Scott catalog lists the 1/2d through 5/ as a separate series issued perf 13 in 1938. There is no mention of a watermark variety. But again, the 1938 listing in the 2000 catalog erroneously lists both the 1p and 1 1/2p as A8 Carr's Bay design.

It, indeed, would pay to check the watermark.

The 2013 version incorrectly lists 93a (Perf. 13) as A8, but correctly lists 94a as A9. Also, still no mention of watermark varieties.

Short of a reply from Scott catalog editors, I think everything there is to be said about the topic has been posted. I'm ready to sign off on it. Thanks, though, for your suggestion.
