This is a Red Crescent Society issue from 1960.

CANADA STAMPS ---thanks fixed the page .
Nigelc---I used the phrase at the bottom and ran it thru GOOGLE . It was coming up as the Nursing School with nothing as Red Crescent Society.

Florence Nightingale is a hospital in Istanbul. Hemsire is 'nurse' & 'mektepleri' is school. Hastahaneleri is 'hospitals'.

There is version with a 5 TL overprint that is relatively scarce...

Hi Floortrader,

After the use of Obligatory Tax / Postal Tax stamps for the Red Crescent Society ended with the 1958 issue, private issues continued although of course their use was no longer obligatory. There's a short note on this in Scott after #RA231.

This sheet is from 1960 and the surcharged sheet is from 1962.
