There have been a few discussions here of the Liannos local post in Turkey. The best site I know of for them is here:

http://www.turkishpostalhistory.com...ty-post.html

After Turkey canceled the arrangement with Mr. Liannos, the issue sat for a few years, and then Turkey decided to handle the mail itself. Starting in June, 1873, Turkey started overprinting stamps for local delivery, using the Turkish word for local ("CHEIR"), within a circle.

The above image is often referred to as a Type I overprint.

Starting July 3, 1881, the Type IV overprint was introduced, on three stamps. It consists of the Turkish script, and the English translation, LOCAL, in an eight-sided box, and it is found in both blue and black.

All of this is leading up to these three that I just picked up:

The middle one looks dodgy. Any thoughts, or other examples to share?

Yeah, the middle one looks bad to me as well. I have a bunch of them stashed away, but haven't gone any farther with them. The ISFILA catalog does a fairly good job on them.

Thanks. I probably should get one, as I see it includes English, and is not a lot of money.

Yes, I can recommend them, I bought each year while they were still including a different specialty volume, but now that it seems to have ceased I'll wait at least until I'm actively working on the country again. :)

You might contact them to see if the specialty companion volumes are available on their own, there is a lot of good info.

Well I can tell you they do not sell the specialized volumes separately.

I'm away from home, but can share more when I get home. I personally believe most, if not all of these - not just yours - are all suspect. Just looking at your 3, clearly the middle one looks to be fake. Can't say I'm thrilled with the one on the right either. The one on the left - with the negative cancel - is the most interesting. Nice stamp!

Thanks for the thoughts.

More images, including examples of the other overprints, would be great, if anyone has any to post.

From my 2007 ISFILA Volume 1, p.530: they call it Type VI black & blue "Sehir" overprinted stamps (the "S" has a cedilla):
- YP 122-126: black overprint - none have cat values, just "-".
- YP 127-132: blue overprint - only 128 (1k orange-yellow), 129 (10p lilac-rose), 130 (20p green) and 132 (20p pale beige) have used cat values of 30.00 each. Others have "-". Values are in YTL. At time of catalogue (Nov 2006), 1 YTL = 0.54 EUR = 0.69 USD.

Your #1 and #3 overprints are similar to that in ISFILA.
