While browsing patriotic covers looking for something else, I came across this:

Not what I collect, but I thought I'd post it in case it interests others. Full link:

It's interesting to note that a bi-colored version of that Patriotic Cover was also available and is for sale on ebay:

WOW! Starting bid: US $249.99 That seems a bit steep to me for this. If it were a Magnus or something I could understand but I've seen quite a few of this design so I know it isn't really scarce. Neat post though.

You may be right, as it has attracted no bids yet. Like I said, I don't collect these, so really haven't any clue other than what the seller says. Which is that the CV is $2000, and was listed for $675 in an auction catalog (a little low, if the CV was really $2000). Supposedly, the color of the rooster is unusual?

Well, ebay has a pretty good record in my experience of getting at the true value of covers like these, and if it doesn't sell at this price, that's saying something.

The 'American Stamp Dealer and Collector' magazine has one of these showcased in the latest issue. Perhaps the seller know this and is hoping the article creates some interest in his.
