I bought this recently for my Fancy Cancel Collection. It has a nice clear, bold Essex CT star-in-circle but I was just as interested in the addressee. Seymour P. Bradley was born on Aug.14 1860 in New Haven CT. He was admitted to West Point in 1878, was reported still at WP in the 1880 census, and appears to have failed his annual exam in 1881. I have had little success in finding out anything after July 30 1881. Can anyone here help me out?

Seymour Percy Bradley was born August 14, 1859 in Connecticut, the son of Charles W. and Sarah Amelia Bradley.

Seymour Percy Bradley developed into a young man of much more than usual ability. In 1879 he entered the West Point Military Academy as a cadet, a representative from the 2nd Congressional District of Connecticut, and he is now an official and a civil engineer, in the construction of the rapid transit tunnel in New York City.

The 1920 census indicates that he was living with his sister, Annetta Bradley, at 32 Burwell in New Haven. He was 60 years old, single and a self-employed surveyor.

It seems Seymour P. Bradley was an alumnus of Yale University's Sheffield Scientific School (Class of 1881). A Yale University Obituary List records his death as June 13, 1937.
