Stamp Insider for May-June 2015

The May-June issue of the Stamp Insider, journal of the Federation of New York Philatelic Societies, is online and available for free download in PDF format or viewing online with page turning. It is available in both PDF and HTML5-friendly format at:

http://www.stampinsider.org

Scouting and Philately is explored in a pair of cover articles — "Scouting Encourages Collecting" and "Stamp Collecting Merit Badges & Awards." Their purpose is to encourage clubs and shows to promote the hobby to youngsters through merit badge workshops.

Other articles include three book reviews by Alan Warren — Douglas Weisz' "Dorothy Knapp: Philately and Family," "Parks, Postmarks & Postmasters" published by the Rocky Mountain Philatelic Library, and "A History of America in Thirty-Six Postage Stamps."

The journal now has a new feature columnist and a new organization page. Warren Coons, a partner of George McGown in the Capital District Third Sunday Stamps & Collectibles Show, is providing a Back of Book column. The Rocky Mountain Philatelic Library in Denver, Colorado, is providing information on its activities and books of interest to philatelists.

The featured video is "The Road is Open Again," in which Dick Powell performs a song supporting the National Recovery Administration, the topic of by Diane DeBlois' Ephemera column.
