Has anyone had any experience with buying material from the Stamp Collection Center? I'm getting emails from them advertising their wares (not sure how I got on their mailing list), but I haven't bought anything from them yet. Looks like they carry a lot of lots in stock books, albums, etc. They appear to have plenty of pictures on their website to allow a decent view of what the lots consist of, but I would be interested in hearing any comments from folks who have had dealings with them.
Thanks.

Ikey, your link takes a person to Keijo's main page. Were you intending that the OP search Keijo's blog for Stamp Collection Center? If so, the search function is behind his premium member paywall, I think.
Or am I missing something? |

I went to the recommended website but did not see anything immediately connected to The Stamp Collection Center. I also did a search for the topic in both articles and discussions, but the search came up empty. Is there a particular reference I should be looking for? Thanks again. |

I've purchased collections from them in the past and have been quite pleased. They have full scans of their offerings so you pretty much know what you're getting. Their prices are all over the place but you can find some decent buys (of course the bargains are sold very quickly). And their customer service is first class - a lot I purchased was lost in the mail and they refunded me quite quickly when it became apparent that the lot was lost. As a matter of fact, the lost lot was one of the most pleasant internet transactions I've ever encountered. |

Well, y'all, let me restate that as: Stamp Collection Center has been discussed on Keijo's blog: http://www.stampcollectingblog.com/ as a source of kiloware. I remember positive reviews. Dunno about the paywall; I don't pay - in fact, I haven't posted there in quite a while - but I was able to search. The search, however, yielded nothing of interest ... for which I have no ready explanation. Cheers, /s/ ikeyPikey |

Just responded email to ikeyPikey, and confirmed that the place in question has never been discussed on SCB. All in all I'm more or less against publishing reader comments that are either in favor or against particular dealer or business. They are just one huge source of problems (have already stopped counting the times I get phone call from angry dealer threatening with lawsuit unless the offending wording is removed/changed). It's much better to stick discussing stamps. Quote: If so, the search function is behind his premium member paywall, I think. On the contrary. Search is open for everyone, and it covers both free and paywalled content. -k- |

Okay, version 3:
I once had a prophetic dream in which someone, somewhere, said something nice about the Stamp Collection Center.

You know Ikey, sometimes it's hard to understand what you're going on about, but please don't try to disparage my experience with this vendor I've had nothing but successful buys. |

I'm not understanding the sensitivity to sharing one's actual experience, be it good or bad, with a particular dealer or auction house in this forum. There are plenty of websites out there where folks are allowed or even encouraged to share their experiences with businesses in a particular area. As an obvious example, thousands of travelers praise or shred hotels, airlines, restaurants and tourist attractions every day on sites such as Tripadvisor or Zagat without apparently any fear of lawsuits. What is so bloody special about stamp dealers, other than they being prickly little nerds like some of the rest of us in the stamp hobby (I'll speak only for myself here), that we should refrain from helping each other out with sharing our real experiences? I'm talking about actual dealings, not just dissing certain parties out of malice or boredom. If someone posts the actual facts concerning a transaction with a particular dealer, on what basis would the dealer file and win a lawsuit? Any lawyers out there?
To wrap up, a serious question - is this forum somehow different than other websites where people post negative comments all the time, do the rules of this forum forbid sharing such information, and/or has anyone actually been sued because of a criticism of a stamp dealer in any venue?
I'm fairly new to this forum, so forgive my naivete, but I'm just not getting it. |

Folks on this forum are so open to posting their critical reviews of one vendor or another that one of us plaintively asked: Quote: ... We tend to focus on the bad guys and rarely credit the good guys! Maybe we need a thread that talks about GOOD experiences? ... I took the bait, and began: https://goscf.com/t/43413 ... Auction Houses: The Good Guys Thread So, yes, Oracle, there are both good & bad reviews of vendors here on SCF. As to your particular results - so far - it is worth noting that you are asking an audience in which Americans are, uh, especially well-represented for feedback about a European vendor (my guess is that their US address is a sales/liaison/transshipment office and not, say, a second warehouse brimming with philately, but I do not know). As to my particular posts, I 1) shared a positive second-hand opinion, and, then 2) had to back off of that a bit, and, then 3) had to back off of that a lot, and, then 4) got rescued by a positive opinion I could reach back into a bend in the space-time continuum to grasp and justify #1. Whew! Yes, I could have just deleted #1, but that would have left the correcting posts hanging in mid-air, so I let my turd lie where I had dropped it, lest my colleagues seem to be speaking about something that was not there to be seen. As to how Jenny2u read my posts as disparaging the Stamp Collection Center, I will favor 'two peoples separated by a common tongue'. Cheers, /s/ ikeyPikey |

I love this thread. It is a great example of how hard it is to communicate effectively when there is that lack of immediacy and you also can't read the other persons body language, facial expressions, and so and so.
I've always thought of Ikey as the Voltaire of Stamp Community Forum. :)
