Has anyone visited the new SG website in the last couple of days? It's overgone a seriously major overhaul. Postcards and coins feature with equal prominence to stamps. Auctions seem to have disappeared completely, unless I haven't found them yet. For me the only plus side is that it gives access to very large numbers of affiliated dealers (over 400 that I can see), most of whom I haven't come across before. I didn't use the previous site very much, and will I use the new one any more? No.

Currently it is not working as they expected. I access GSM Online and it does not give me that access unless I use a workaround to get to the pages I want and even then I cannot use the view online facility. Thankfully I can still download any current or past issues... which I normally do anyway.
I received an apology e-mail from s.G. dated 21st of this month... still waiting for them to fix things.

Hi Scotzm, I chatted to a couple of guys who work in SG and their opinion of the site is not publishable on this forum. "Rubbish" will summarise.

I don't know what the problem is with Gibbons- it seems everything they attempt turns out wrong. It is not for lack of funding- they throw a lot of money into their updates, product revamping, etc. It just seems things never work out the intended way for them.

I attempted to use it yesterday and gave up because the server response time was too slow when I entered search queries. I also find the UI awkward ... Too much non substantive graphics occupy the page, and the item descriptions are small, hard to find and poorly presented. Compared to the prior SG site, a huge disappointment.

Typical for Gibbons- the more they improve something the worse they make it.

I use and like many of their products. Most of my British stuff is in their albums. Their album product line seems to have been developed with no sense of continuity. There must be twenty different sizes of leaves for them, you cannot usually fit blank pages from one album into another. Their single country albums are partly multi ring- but about half are 22 ring.
