My viewpoint is that it appears to be a nice stamp, well centered--but the back appears to have concerns. I would assume that worst case, this was a used stamp, cleaned of its cancel, then regummed. middle case would be a mint stamp that a hinge and someone regummed it. best case is that it is a mint and original gum. I would then buy it only on the worst case -- ie, bid at 40-50% of Unitrade Catalog value for a VF used stamp. that way if you get it, you paid low for it.
On the other hand, I rarely buy individual stamps on
ebay for this reason--its just not worth it. The only exceptions would be where the seller has a separate website that evidences that they are a legit philatelic outfit (like Eastern as an example). Instead, if I were you, I would buy stamps not via
ebay but directly to one of the many Canadian and US stamp companies which regularly have auctions or make stamps available on the internet. Generally, they are to be trusted but of course not always...the difference being they will easily take returns without question.
Good luck--Newfoundland is a great area to collect, because there are no new stamps being issued...of course, I am biased because it is all I collect.
