Here's a nice grouping on a letter I received from the U.N. Postal Authority a few years ago. I've never taken time to separate and soak them. I really like the 80c Peace Bell. I also appreciate the care and precision of the cancellation. Maybe I'd better keep them on cover :-)

Thanks all.
I order my UN new issues directly from the UNPA in New York. They always send a "collectible" cover (actually it's usually a heavy cardboard mailer). It would obviously be easier for them to use a postage meter, so I appreciate their attention to detail and customer service.
By the way, in a thread on this board somewhere, the question was asked, "Are UN stamps valid for postage in the US?" The answer is YES and the scan above is the proof. At least, it's proof for the New York issues. I don't think the Geneva and Vienna issues would clear the USPS.

I see, Tom.
So, the UNPA can use them to mail to me, but I can't use them to mail you a letter.
Thanks for correcting me.

You could use them to send something to me .......but only if you mailed it from one of the UN offices. |
