Hi, I found this stamp (stick on back of another 1913 stamp). Do you know what is that? It is not a picture or something like that... you can see extra ink on the upper right corner. Look like Canada stamp but... Maybe someone know more about this... Thank you! CDNum.

This maybe an image of a 6-cent Small Queen that was part of a printed album page. This is a guess as it is hard to tell a lot about it from just an image. |

Hi Watermark,
I thought that too but this is a stamp; you can easily see 3D ink spots with magnifying glass. You can see it on the upper right corner. Interesting... :-)
Thank you!

Didn't BABN get into some kind of trouble and lost their contract for printing Canadian stamps in the 1890's when they switched from engraving to lithography, especially for revenue stamps? This stamp looks lithographed rather than engraved or it could be a forgery or a colour trial of some kind. |

Hi Jogil, Ink is really deposited on the paper; I can see some ink accumulation (see picture). Look like forgery or essai but I don't know. Ink is very fresh; protected by the back of the other stamp. Thank you! CDNum. |

In Robson Lowe's "The Encyclopedia of British Empire Postage Stamps, Part II Canada" on page 200, it has under colour trials for Small Queens the 6 cents listed as blue which is the only trial colour listed for this denomination there. |

Here's a scan of the page: Do you know if your copy is on laid or wove paper? |

Hi Jogil,
Paper stamp is extremely thin... I cannot say if it is a laid or wove paper. It's like pelure paper; someone probably scratch the bottom of this stamp like lottery... it was not a good idea :-).
Robert : look not proof for me; lot of imperfections.
Thank you; this scan page is very interesting.

Even though I am not an expert in this area, I have seen many Small Queen Auctions and have some knowledge here. Most Proofs and Essay are printed on thin paper but they have a very clear image. The Small Queen proofs and essays that I have seen look like this but I don't know all the ones that were printed. Notice how clear and sharp the image is on this Essay even though it is lithographed. An engraved image would be even sharper detail than this. |

Now that I have given it some thought. I think I have seen your stamp before and I seem to remember it was part of an advertisement on wrapping cardboard from City stamp Montreal? I can't place it exactly. |

Hi Jimjung,
Maybe it is something like that... I don't know. If someone have more info about that, I will appreciate it. Hope it is not a cereal box printing...:-)
Thank you!
