To look at the future of stamp collecting as things are now is not........A world of pleasures...... Look at what happened in the USA for us over night.....People will talk about the future to me....
With the 3rd Tetrad nearly completed since Israel was given the promised land back again which started the 1st of the Israel Tetrads. If you look deeper there is another previous 5 Tetrads before the 3 I talk about that fit into it all.
A Tetrad is 4 blood moons over 2 years that fall on a Jewish festival and have a solar eclipse in the middle.
1st The 1949 – 1950 Jewish Tetrad lunar eclipse sequence took place during the Israeli War of Independence and discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls shortly after Israel became a nation again for the first time in 2,000 years.
2nd 1967-68 Israel wins the impossible war in 6 days.
3rd 2014-15 Next & 4th Blood Moon of this Tetrad is on the 28th Sep 2015. What is happening with Israel right now? The Tetrad means Israel goes to war? The middle East is not looking good.Israel's boarders are surrounded by nations that hate Israel.......
The next Tetrad is in 70 years. Do you really think we have that much time left for stamp collecting?

So is the world ending now, or in 70 years? If it's 70 years, then I'll carry on working on my Commonwealth collection. If it's now, please send me all your stamps before it's too late.

The world is not going end straight away. We still have time to collect stamps.
There is still the issue of the Israel's Temple being rebuilt in Jerusalem. At present there is a Mosk build in that place and Israel does not own the land as yet. Then there is still more time for collecting stamps as a heap more prophecies have to be forefilled. But that is if the world basical stays the same. Which is one of the big ???.
If you hear Israel is taking control of Jerusalem take out the biggest loan you can and buy as many stamps as you can before the unknown is revealed.
Always Happy Stamping. |

We don't have to be mean spirited , the point was that there are trends in all areas of life . Nobody could of predicted the coming of ebay and other on-line information that gave the hobby such a leap forward in activity and price . But now things are quieting down and the next trend looks to be over the horizon .....but something will appear in the future . |

I don't know if that was the point or not, but I did think that the image posted was a bit much. OTOH I did chuckle at revenuecollector's response. But your point is well taken. No need to fret too much over what is going to happen to the hobby, if for no other reason than when it happens we are likely to no longer be around. Meanwhile, as KGV concluded, notwithstanding the gar-bage (said with a French accent, to emphasize the intended lightheartedness), "Always Happy Stamping." |

if you think it through a little bit eBay/has caused the end of the way we use to do shopping. Few stamp stores have survived. Yes it did inject some adrenaline at first but not anymore. We are price driven consumers and it is sad. The desktop computer I'm typing on is dying technology. The CD I'm listening to in the background is dying technology. As far as the thrift store where I work business is great because a select few want the old technology such as rabbit ears, typewriters, percolators, dial telephones etc. And a few people will bring me older things to repair such as typewriters, older portable radios, sewing machines etc. But most people will replace the junky $16.00 blender with another. |

People see stamp collecting as an old(er) man's game and reason that in 20 years, many of us will have passed on. But - this is important - people become stamp collectors again after not having much interest for many years. The world will never run out of old(er) men with an interest, any more than it will run out of teenagers or 30-somethings. |

Rather than the death of philately, how about the death of pex's? I have never been to any stamp show, but from what I have read here and elsewhere they look like an aarp convention. Is that perception wrong? Where will they be in 20 or 30 years? |
