Hi all, I came across this stamp in an old collection, with a 1887 date alongside, & a strange perfin, has any one any clues

I think it's AN - Army & Navy Co-operative Society.

At the bottom edge is a half 'S' which I guess forms part of the initials, although it's mis-placed (it should be under the AN).

Thx Ringo, I have quite a few old English stamps which I no nothing about, I was told there is 1500 listed perfins for the UK, regards

J: you were mis-informed, there are about 37,000 different UK perfins.

jezza: You have a shifted pattern C0270.02.




As previously mentioned it is from the Army & Navy C0-op Society, Ltd.

Shifted or partial pattern make it hard for a new perfin collector to ID. With time you will get the hang of it.

If interested in GB perfins join The Perfins Society. They have a lot of people willing to help and offer great catalogs.
