It is addictive KGB, get on it! I started collecting postmarks of the Austro-Hungarian Empire a few years ago. I also like drawing maps, though the Arad map is a modified cut-and-paste from Wikipedia.

I am currently drawing a map of the whole empire in AutoCAD, which allows me to superimpose the current boundaries over the old Empire Boundaries. I then can use bits and pieces for my album pages.

This one was tough for me because I did not look closely, and thought the cancel said Apoz, when in fact is is Apcz. Now it is spelt Apc, and there is not much information on the internet that I could find. Anyway, is is a small town north-east of Budapest, in Heves county.

There is an Apcz cancel on ebay, on an early Franz Josef stamp of Austria.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/161768836045

Austrian Empire stamps were used in Hungary up until 1871, when Hungarian stamps were issued.

Hungarian postmarks (former Hungarian kingdom), Franz Joseph young and old, without crown-crowned, austrian stamp-hungarian stamp, from Slovakia - Varanno - Vranov nad Topl`ou (north) - from Serbia-Istvanvölgy-Hajducica (south)....
it`s complicated, that`s why I love it.

Nice cancels Wadmalatz. What I like about the Austro-Hungarian postmarks is that the cancels are usually small enough and the letters big enough so that it is usually easy to identify the towns on loose stamps.

Also-Nyarasd, which is now Topolniky in Slovakia. "Also" is Hungarian for "Lower". I am not sure if there is an Upper Nyarasd. Nyarasd actualy means "poplar", as in the tree.

Cut and paste with foreign accents does not work well in this forum.

Waldmalatz means Felso Nyarasad is now Horne Toplniky. Felso is upper in Czech. I removed the accents on the "o" and "L".

So there IS an Upper and Lower Toplniky.
