King Georgev Variety On Cover W Port Arthur, Ont Postmark

My most prized possession - my uncle actually found this in the attic of a house he bought around 2000.

An old utilities bill with contents postmarked in Port Arthur, Ontario in 1932. Great condition. The 2c King George V also displays the 'long moustache' variety.

Port Arthur amalgamated with Fort William in 1970 to form Thunder Bay.

I do not want to be a downer but I am not sure that you have a "long moustache" variety on this stamp. If you are referring to the "extended moustache" variety that the Unitrade catalogue lists as #166i, then I do not think this is it.

This variety usually appears as a pretty dark spot at the end of the moustache that makes it appear longer. The spot is usually quite strong and often darker than the rest of the real moustache. A couple of examples are shown below on the left side of the pairs in the image.

Your stamp look like a normal version to me (the right side in my image below). It is hard to tell from your image, but I would expect any extra colour at the end of this moustache would be attributed to the postmark that runs right through it. To me, it looks like a normal copy.

Ahh, interesting. Perhaps it is the postmark then, because it looks like his moustache is curled up at the tip compared to the normal variety. I see your point though...it's definitely not the official 'long moustache' variety. Figures the postmark would be perfectly placed like that...

Also, here is a Fort William, Ontario postmark on a block of QE2's...the city Port Arthur amalgamated with.
