Ebay For Dinosuar Collection?

Hi all,
On looking through the albums that I have been left by my late grand father, they appear to be arranged in themes, one of the themes that I have spotted are all dinosaur and prehistoric creatures, I have attached some pictures.
Can anyone advise as to whether these would be worth anything at all? Would ebay be a good place to advertise them? No idea what I'm doing when it comes to stamp collections to be honest

Hi Clare, and welcome to the forum! That is a pretty collection and I bet there is lots of interest in the subject.
I do not know if they are very valuable, but I can tell you that every single one has never been used postally. They are all CTO's, or Cancelled to Order. And to answer your question, yes, E-Bay should be a good place to sell them.
If you check E-Bay, please look under "thematic collections" and you will find similar items. This may give you an idea as to value/price. And good luck!

For someone interested in dinos, this would be a great find! I think I would put them all up for auction in a single lot--if you don't care to keep them. I wish I could tell you a good reserve to set for them, but perhaps you could get a good idea by looking at ebay over a period of weeks before you consider selling. Then again, perhaps someone here will make a fair offer.

Many thanks for your input :-) I know that if I keep them then they would just end up in a box somewhere so if someone else would get more enjoyment out of them then I will likely list them on ebay, if anyone can offer any advice to a good reserve to set then I would be very grateful(not expecting £1000's from them)
Have loads more too, football themed ones, paintings/artist themed, some that look pretty old too but have no idea, will likely post some pictures up on forum when I get round to sorting them and photographing as any input is gratefully received.

Your stamps were issued in great quantities to collectors and therefore are widely available. I would estimate the retail value at no more than $20, just because they are all the same theme. A reserve is definitely not needed. If the stamps were mine, I would start with a price of $19.99, and then reduce to $9.99 if not sold (which may be a more realistic estimate).

Jenny, forgive my ignorance, but what is the difference between a reserve and a starting price like 19.95? Are reserves kept secret from the bidders? (I think I've seen that before.)

Yes, reserves are hidden from buyers. Buyers hate reserves because they don't know how much the seller wants and have to keep guessing how much to bid. The general rule of thumb for sellers is to start at your lowest acceptable price, which is why I suggested to start at $19.95. I think this is a high amount for this lot, but you never know on ebay ... Besides the price can always be reduced if necessary to make a sale.

Reserves are normally used for high priced items where the seller is "testing the water" to see how much people are willing to pay. The last place a reserve would be needed is for a small group of dinosaur CTOs

Reserves also cost you money as a seller in ebay world, where every concept carries a price tag!

Just offering an alternative opinion- I would start the lot at no more than $3.99 and hope a few collectors get into bidding. There is very limited value in those stamps unfortunately, so make sure to cover your postage expenses adequately in your shipping terms.
