I have added to my Empire State Postal History Blog a short segment about a Shield cancel from Sharon Springs, New York from 1885.

If you're interested in New York State Postal History you should be a member of the Empire State Postal History Society.

Thanks for the post. All the posts were excellent -- I found the post on the Wadhams Mill, N.Y. bisect cover was great.

Thanks,
Hal

That's a beautiful cover, Glenn. It would have caught my eye even without a specialized interest in New York postal history.

August 11: As I was working on the manuscript for an upcoming book on New York State Postmaster/County Cancels, I discovered I already had another shield: Highlands Falls from Orange County.
