Welcome to the forum, and congratulations with your grading! Could you tell us why you had this stamp graded? Is it a very scarce one?

Interesting. There are some very small areas of tropicalization affecting the gum that didn't affect the grade. I'm also confused about the strategy around sending this stamp in for grading. This entire set (Scott 1-22) is available MNH on bidstart for $4.24. |

If you don't mind sharing, how many did you have to submit to come up with a 100? |

Shermae, what do you see in the gum? I can not see a thing due to the lousy picture where we can see the photographer in mirror!

My old eyes see them now, thank you Smauggie and Shermae! I see a spot on the front also, at about 10 o'clock just outside the brown border. Now for the big question: Why is this piece of paper given a 100? And I wonder how much he had to pay for this!

Hard to tell from the picture about the adhesive distribution. Perforations on right side not perfectly uniform. I would not have given this stamp 100%. Very high 90's but not 100% |

Stamp looks good to me not sure what is thought of as bad about the Perfs. The two tiny spots I wonder are they just on the card or scanner and not the stamp. A 100 grade even on a common or low value stamp can be desirable. The probability of a 100 could be a probability of 1:100 or 1:1000. Even if 1:100 an inexpensive CV stamp could be worth enough to justify a $10 grade fee.
Of course, demand is low currently as few current collectors get this or even care. There are potentially many more 100's out there waiting on common stamps like this, and yet fewer every day due to attrition. But fact is this is a very niche area currently.
Congrats rogugallery1. |
