Well, it's not a very good example, but I presume this is a double impression. Or perhaps the plate or sheet slipped ever so slightly.

Does one look for a better example of the stamp and place the two side-by-side in the album? Or does one just go, "Ho hum?"

My stamp:

The same stamp but from an Internet site:

If there is room in whatever album a person is using, I think it is nice to include varieties next to a "normal" version.

There won't be a preprinted space if one is using a traditional album, so that's something each person has to decide for his or her collection. I use Vario pages, so I can include shades, postmarks, pairs, selvage, etc.

I as well do the same.

Like CJD, I would place it next to a "normal" version of the same stamp, regardless of what the page will look like after it is added. I create my own pages, so it's not a problem for me.

Thanks, guys. I'm fond of this stamp as I would retire to Ouro Preto in a heartbeat if I were free of my obligations in America.

Have you checked the catalog on this one? It looks like two different colors blue were used in printin, and one of them shows a slight (pretty good?) shift? Either way, it is a keeper and I would put it next to the original also!
