Returns Different From Sent Item

Has anyone ever had a buyer to request a refund, then send a faulty or off centered version of the stamp they bought back? Seems like this would be somewhat common, and wondered if someone has had to fight the battle of a stamp suddenly changing from VF to F.

No but I have had it happen in items outside of stamps, stamp people seem pretty honest compared to some others on ebay but I only sell lower value items for the most part.

I had the opposite happen in that a seller sent a matched corner plate plate block set that was not the exact same one that was pictured in his ebay listing. As a result, I returned the not pictured matched set that was sent to me and the seller accused me of sending back a matched set that was not the one sent to me. The order took more than a week to just start shipping the set out (this does not include the mailing ship transit time to get to me) and it was not shipped out from the seller but from someone else's address under someone else's name.

Thanks, I was just wondering how many people had someone try to pull the fast one. I have had many problems with sellers figuring out what I bid on was special. A few proofs used as postage to name some. I was told it got lost in mail, and refunded. I have never had a lot " lost" in mail out of thousands. That's exactly what I told them too. Oh well, overall, very lucky with purchases from ebay. There are so many great sellers, sad that a few make it a bad experience for some folks.

I haven't had it happen to me, but I was working for a dealer at a show and a customer brought back some stamps that had been switched, so it does happen.

I have had two ebay lots which were what rwoodennickel termed as "special" never get shipped to me from a seller. In both cases, I got the "Sorry I cannot find it" line from the seller. In one case, the cover was relisted within three days, with a starting bid of what I had previously "won" at, rounded up to the dollar. I tried to bid but the seller had blocked me. Curiously, both lots had the same underbidder...

With the examples like kollectorkurt mentioned with shoddy sellers, couldn't you involve ebay to fix the matter and insist on getting the bought item sale completed? Or at a minimum leave negative feedback on the seller? This seems to be very buyer unfriendly behavior that ebay strives against.

I would leave negative feedback in a minute and then email them requesting my bids be blocked. They won't be in business long when potential bidders look at that. Of course, most that feedback cannot be left after 60 days sellers probably know this.

Sellers that do stuff like refuse to sell or shill bid their auctions with another name wont make it anyway. You cant squeeze blood from a turnip.
