I'm a casual ebay seller. We've been aware for some time that ebay does not like listings that limit sales to US bidders only. I am now encountering some listing formats that do NOT allow you to do this. There is no option for 'no overseas sales'. This happened this past weekend and I wound up going in myself and using the 'block sales' options to block bidders everyplace but the US- and I'm not at all sure I did it right.

Some formats I wind up getting do offer this as an option, but those formats so not allow you to multi-list in more than one category. It seems I never know what format I am going to get when I go in to do liatings. Any ideas how to do this?

Have you been unwittingly enrolled in ebay's Global Shipping Programme? If so, you can opt out. I'm perfectly happy to post abroad to certain locations, but I want to be able to pick and choose countries and ways of posting, rather than having them dictated by ebay.

single stamps I send anywere, if you can put it in a letter its only 1.20 no matter were but other lots I usualy say I dont ship outside US but somehow there have always been some people who seem to ge to bid anyway. Maybe they come to the USA site first and then sign up?? who knows but when you make the auction under shipping just dont have a global option.

I am more lenient with this on stamps- but still will NOT ship to some areas including Eastern Europe and Italy. The item I was trying to list was a bulky album, not the sort of thing I would dream of selling internationally. As in so many things, the ebay gods are clueless about the risks this entails.

Well, I WAS enrolled in the Global Shipping Program. I don't recall ever being asked if I wanted to be. I opted out so let's see if that makes my listing easier.

that global shipping is such a ripoff anyway, I had a buyer do it 1 time and it made him pay 65.00 for a couple coins and there was nothing I could do to help him, you cant refund or cancel it or anything. Thats when I unenrolled.

You can block all international purchases within every listing,
and you can block all international purchases within Paypal,
which is an even better block, as it will not allow a payment
to go through to a specific country from an international Paypal
account, unless you have cleared that country within your Paypal
fraud/risk controls...
