The US Philatelic Classics Society has a number of reference books available for free download on its webpage here - http://www.uspcs.org/resource-cente...nic-library/
The Alexander Simpson book covers cancels on the 1851 and 1857 issue stamps, the Skinner & Eno book covers fancy cancels 1845-1869, and the Cole book covers fancy cancels in the 1870-1894 period.
