I haven't sold anything on ebay in ages, but I've just listed my iPhone 6 Plus. I didn't know that listings are free regardless of starting bid, etc. Also, it's fairly easy to list an item. Cell phones have a wizard that walks you through all the details. My only unpleasant surprise was learning that ebay now takes 10% of the final sale amount. Ouch! Kirk

KirkS,
What is wrong with your IPhone 6 Plus. I was thinking of getting one and ditching my Samsung Galaxy S5.

If you didn't list free shipping, they are also going to want a percentage of the postage. |

If you have not listed for a while, you are a scam magnet selling a phone. Are you selling international, US only or?
Are you selling by auction or fixed price?
Be prepared for headaches, problems, and other issues selling phones |

It's been awhile since I sold on ebay. Are free listings a permanent feature? I used to calculate 11% "off the top" when selling stamps, sounds a bit light now. Fees on shipping cost only started when sellers started every lot at 99 cents and added $19 shipping. This also gave them the right to refuse a refund of shipping costs which burned many buyers. |

Free listings bounce all over the place. You used to get 100 a month and now they've dropped that to 40. But now they refund your 30 cent listing fee for every item that sells beyond those free 40. But then they have free listing promos throughout the month. I think I'm on my third one for the month of September. This one is free listings for 1000 items in Auction and Auction with Buy it Now. The one before this was free listings of any sort for any duration. Right now they also have a promo where you only pay a $5 final value fee on a phone sale. So beyond the free 40, I guess it depends on the month and what mood the person at the top is in or something. I've given up trying to figure ebay out. |

Jack Kelley: nothing wrong with the phone, it's mint condition. I'm getting a new iPhone 6S through my business, so I don't need two. http://www.ebay.com/itm/271996033690Kevin: thanks for your keen observation :-) Yes, I know it's a business; I guess I failed to make my point -- last time I sold, they took 3 or 4%; I was surprised by the increase to 10% Dutchman: US only; and it's a Verizon phone. As I understand, Verizon will unlock it for the new owner, but I haven't done that step. Just wiped & factory reset. |

Some time ago ebay dropped the value based listing structure for fees and went to a flat 30 cents and also dropped the fee for extra pictures so now you can post 12 pics free. Instead they jacked up the final value fee and added a "final value" fee for whatever the postage was. Of course they made it sound like they were doing everyone a favor but I'm sure they were laughing all the way to the bank. |

ebay fees are still cheaper than trying to sell items via most auction houses and your get your money a whole lot quicker. ebay fees on postage are a percentage of the listed lowest domestic option only. Thus is you sell an item to an international destination or services like registered mail is added on later then it's still only a percentage of the lowest listed domestic postage amount. ebay fees were higher than 10% at one point and of course they are a bit cheaper if you have a store or get discount if you have top rated seller status. The latter is difficult to maintain if you sell cheap items domestically at first class letter rates and won't make the domestic tracking requirements. |
