The Sakura Electric SE-2000 eraser

I would once again like to thank Artful Hinger for his pointer to the Sakura Electric SE-2000 eraser, to wit:

http://www.sakuraofamerica.com/electric-eraser

As to the wild scribbling on this postcard, a wise man once told me: "Never ask how they got that way."

After a light cleaning of the easy half:

Done! Q/ Any suggestions for that coffee stain? Bleach? No more eating & drinking during Stamp Time?

I am especially pleased to have revealed the 'instructions' block.

The art side of the card shows French Guyana's Kaw Channel, which seems to be a channel-in-a-river-thru-a-swamp-near-a-town-all-of-the-same-name(s).

The contemporary photo (below) is from one of these websites:

Cheers,

Thanks Artful and Ikey! I ordered one this morning. I didn't know such a thing existed, but it is just what I was looking for!

You don't know how right you are

Very high rotational speed enables (nay, encourages) a light touch.

Have a good time, and be sure to let us know how you made out.

Cheers,

Ah, I do like the instructions! Who ever said that the nanny state was something new? Of course, they don't mention that you need to put a stamp on because someone's buddy somewhere in the postal system makes money out of the Postage Due stamp.

On the low tech side, every philatelist should have one or two vinyl erasers. They are terrific. They are soft, and they will absolutely not mar covers or cards. And, they work during power outages - you can keep one near your candle or kerosene lamp.

Only buy the brand names. In my experience, it makes a big difference with vinyl erasers. Stick with Pentel, Staedtler, or Magic Rub. The "knock offs" can really hurt your stamps or covers!

I find that a static block eraser just does not do the same job, or as well.

On the cover above, the graphite was so thick on the card that the static eraser only spread it around.

But the spinning eraser picked it off, cleanly.

Cheers,

Yes, the "before and after" pictures certainly show impressive results.

I'm a person who has worked with his hands his whole life. I have no problem using power tools on wood and metal, but the idea of using them on paper and thin cardboard make make me a little squeamish.

I notice on the Amazon listing that the Sakura tips are made of vinyl material. This makes all the difference.

The "old time" electric eraser would do serious damage to philatelic material.

Ikey:

I received my eraser today and give it a giant .

It works effortlessly and leaves nary a trace of graphite!

Thanks for the recommendation.

I saw that eraser and knew I needed another toy but I ordered this instead at about one third the price. Premium Electric Eraser Kit with Eraser Refill Pack by Merite. It works great. Just use a light touch and all those old dealers marks are gone. I never had much luck with a regular eraser, it seemed to leave smudges or did damage to the paper.
