I know I am being emotional, not logical. But- the one buyer that really got to me when he stiffed me on feedback was a guy who got what I think was a fantastic buy, a set of albums that retail over $200 in like new shape, for the start price of $9.99. He was one of those I sent a reminder to with no result. He has left feedback for most of his other purchases according to his profile but not for me.
A couple months back one guy bought a complete mint NH collection of German stamps 1990-2000 from me at the start price of $10 or so (look up what that goes for elsewhere) then when I asked about feedback he replies that ONE stamp (out of a couple hundred) had a bent corner so he didn't think I merited any.

Yeah, I know... let it go. When selling stamps you are dealing with a certain element sometimes, obsessive/compulsive condition freaks that sort of thing. Life goes on.

What I seem to be getting from high feedback sellers who have responded here is "I'm all set with my feedback - everyone else can either beg for it or go without". I wonder if they would think the same if their buyers had the same attitude.

Remember that, in the effort to have someone type "Great ebayer", you may be putting off a customer for good. S/he got her/his albums, you got paid. That's what most transactions are like, without some half-hearted public endorsement of dubious value. Relax!

Feedback at ebay is easy....
I do not remember how I did it but you can set
feedback to be given automatically once payment
is posted thru PayPal.
Sellers do nothing.....set it and forget it.
Everyone gets feedback.

1. Buyer feedbacks are no longer relevant... when ebay eliminated the
ability of a seller to leave neutral or negative feedbacks for buyers
it was game over...

Let 'em beg for it? - The vast majority of sellers do not read buyer
feedbacks, or lend any creedance to buyers having feedback... it's
just the ongoing ebay game from a time long gone... it no longer
serves any purpose...

2. Since you decided to target my post, be advised... there are many
different types of products sold on ebay, quite obviously... I can
understand your position and opinion relative to stamps, where there
certainly appears to be more of a feedback sensitivity, especially
when some buyers are also sellers, and are chasing after the feedback
number, and not necessarily the commentary...

We do not sell stamps... never have, never will... stamp collecting
is my personal interest, not my business... buyers for the items we
sell look for reputation, price, security. warranty, and customer
service... there's many sellers whom offer the same items we do...
yet we dominate ebay in the commodity... feedback is not part of the
equation... never has been, never will be...

Nonsense. I buy much more than stamps on ebay and it's extremely rare that a seller doesn't leave feedback. Sorry, but the arrogance of high feedback sellers who sit fat on their feedback while refusing to give same to their buyers just annoys me no end. Buyer feedback may not be relevant to you, but it may be relevant to your buyer. There is absolutely no reason except seller arrogance (or even laziness) that a buyer should have to request feedback.

"ask and ye shall receive"

Our buyers get far more from us than any feedback could possibly
provide...
it's called 365 days a year customer service and technical support...
if you cannot understand the value in that, then it's also reasonable
to conclude you are used to not receiving it when you shop, and don't
expect it...

There's another old expression...

"ya don't ask, ya don't get"....

If you perceive this as arrogance, then so be it...

You just don't get it. But that's OK - there's enough sellers who do!

Hi Jenny2U,
How are you?
I know we have disagreed on this topic before but I am curious as to your opinion on the exploits that are going on with the ebay feedback system. I am sure you have seen many listings which espouse that buyers not leave bad feedback before contacting them first. While in some ways this is good in that it encourages communication between the two parties it also is an end run around the Feedback system. Some folks use the system to understand if there have been ANY problems, not just if the seller is cleaning up the problems that may have occurred. In other words; if you ran a company which made widgets would you want a quality system which only recorded issues that had not been addressed or would you want a record of ALL issues that occurred? So if a seller has constant problems with poor packaging/shipping but is always quick to resolve the issue weeks later, is that still worth knowing about? As a buyer isn't it legitimate to want to know that you might be dealing with delays and investing more time in the transaction?

When you search Google for ' ebay accounts for sale' you will see that there are many companies established for selling Top Rated ebay accounts (i.e TopRatedAccounts.com) with high 100% feedback numbers. Do you not feel that this undermines those sellers who work so hard at maintaining their feedbacks? Do these kinds of thing not reduce your confidence in the ebay Feedback system? I would like to hear your opinion on this subject because I respect you and your experience.

Don, I'm fine, but more important, how are you? I'm always pleased when I see you posting. My comments above are about sellers leaving feedback for buyers - to me nothing more than a simple courtesy.

To be quite honest, I'm not overly concerned about seller misuse of the feedback system. If a seller's feedback is all manipulated and I have a bad experience, I get 100% refund. Our difference is that you try to be a gatekeeper, while I don't let bad apples make me paranoid about transacting business. It's all good though - we just look at the issue through different colored lenses.

Jenny2U, I'm doing well, thank you for asking. Ah, I was not thinking from a buyer's perspective, thank you for the input. I also concur with your sentiment that that 'real life' stuff should always trump any philatelic drama!
