I just purchased a bulk lot of Baden at our local annual show this past weekend. The particular dealer I bought this from was clearing out a huge amount of backstock at dirt cheap prices. I've always had a thing for German States just from an aesthetic perspective (I'm not an expert by any stretch of the imagination) and the price was cheap enough that I figured even if the vast majority are fakes or reprints it still will be worthwhile (I'm into the lot for well under a buck a stamp, so not much downside)... something to play with.

I thought some might find it interesting to see a wide range of colors, impressions, papers, and cancels side by side to compare and contrast. I'm assuming that many will jump off the page as being bogus.

For the earliest material I scanned both fronts and backs of the stamps. Under each image there is a link to an 800dpi image of the same page where you can see close-up details. Those linked images are 15-20MB in size each, so depending on your connection, they may take a while to download.

Fabulous collection for study of shades, etc! I don't see anything that jumps out as bogus, but even if so, I am jealous of this purchase I love multiples - what a great buy.

Love your new collection of Baden's! The 1851-52 are very nice series, one of my favorites I enjoy to collect as well..smiles.. When you are on your adventures, highly I would suggest, please look carefully at the color for the 9k's.If you come across 9k black on green imperforated,Baden Scott's(4b) is a very high value rare stamp. One of the world's rarest stamp. It is on thin paper, first printing of the series.
With the perforated stamps of your lovely Coat of Arms collection, you need to check for specifics with the perforations determining which year the stamp was made and values. They are three types of perforations known: perforated 13, or 13 1/2 or perforated 10. It will determine the year the stamp (1860-62 - Scott 10-14 perforated 13 1/2), (1862 perf. 10 Scott 15-17), Scott 18 perforated 13 1/2 specifically for the 3k rose which is a high valued stamp for unused and nice value for used too. (1862-65 perforated 10, which are Scott 19-25). The 1868 series are the Scott's 26-28 these are the 1kr green, 3 kr rose or 7k dull blue.
Baden Rural Postage Due Stamps are very valuable in used conditions. LJ1- LJ3.
On the LJ13, 12k black yellow which is perforated 10, unwatermarked thin paper, Land-Post is a straight line as appears in your stamps which is a nice marking but need to check if those you have in your possession are genuine in used condition. The first one looks like a marking of ink below the horizontal top part perforations of the stamp, but only an expert with specific knowledge and testing would probably be able to tell if they are genuine or not since there are many forged cancellations known with these stamps. They probably would need to see the stamp in person.
If they are considered truly genuine used stamps, they are cat. for very very high values. The paper on these stamps matters as well, Thin and Thick. The Thick paper is known with darker yellow color.
I hope this information was helpful to you and others who may enjoy collection them too! Best wishes, hopefully they are the genuine ones! smiles

Blazenstar if you click on the scan for the close-ups, you'll see that both LJ3's are unused.

the first one has look like a foxing marking on the left side of the (1) of 12 number. the bottom of the perf. 4 and perf. 6. looks like darker than the other the middle area of the yellow.
the second stamp, under portal looks like smudge of dark color too.

I learned a long time ago that with possibilities of high value stamps not just to rule out with photos from scans to determine factors;for example, thick or thin paper.Every expert I have known checks under their scopes first each stamp they exam.
Both of those stamps have the correct marking designs for Land-Post straight line is a positive sign, but need to check for scrolls and other markings if match as well too.If they are used condition, the genuine stamp is 20 (t) plus high value stamps.I would suggest to check them carefully.Best is to look under scope, for more clearer view of the stamp.
LJ-3kr black yellow can be over 100.00 unused, and over 300.00 for only thick paper.

Sorry, corrected.. it is the LJ2, three kr black yellow with thick paper. In my opinion of observation The second stamp of the 3kr black yellow (the last one) looks used with a slight dark line between the top from perf to dark straight line including another foxing marking on the perf further to the right.
