Globes

These two post-WWII stamps from the state of Baden, Germany (French Zone of occupation) were issued on October 4, 1949 to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Universal Postal Union.

The 20 pf. stamp is postmarked BERLIN December 18, 1949. According to the Michel Deutschland-Spezial catalog, French Zone stamps were postally valid in West Berlin from October 27, 1949 until the end of their general validity on March 31, 1950.

On July 19, 2019 the USA issued 2 first class domestic rate (forever) stamps to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the first moon landing. The two stamps are arranged in alternating fashion in a self-adhesive sheet of 24. One stamp depicts astronaut Buzz Aldrin in his spacesuit with the lunar landscape in the background.

The other stamp, shown here, features a high contrast, silver on black photograph of the moon with the Sea of Tranquility landing site of the lunar module highlighted by a bright dot.

On January 19, 1990 Finland issued these two stamps (Facit #s 1099-1100) with "globe" hologram to announce the "conversion of Posts and Telecommunications...from a government office into a state commercial company" (Facit).

The globe with logo hologram changes color when tilted, as shown from the phone pic. Also, the cel phone pic interprets the stamp's color better than the scanner.

On July 19, 1975 Japan issued a set of three stamps (Sc. #s1216-8) to publicize the International Ocean Expo '75 in Okinawa. The 50 yen high value stamp depicts a stylized globe, an oil drilling platform, and a school of flying fish.

This November 8, 1980 stamp of Japan (Sc. #1420) publicizes the 35th World Congress of JCI (Junior Chamber International). A banded globe and the JCI logo are shown on the stamp.

On June 15, 1970 Japan issued a set of three stamps to publicize its hosting of Expo '70. This stamp (Sc #1030) is the 15 yen middle value and it depicts a globe doubling as a peephole to a panorama of the Expo buildings. Advertising from Japan Post Office describes it as "View of halls and pavilions at the exposition."

These 15 yen stamps were prepared as traditional sheets, having 5 vertical rows of 4 stamps. Later, a booklet of the three stamps was released (6/22/70) in which one copy of the 15 yen stamp was included. There is a straight edge on the left side of this stamp.

On June 29, 1970 a souvenir sheet of the 3 values was issued.

This November 24, 1947 first day cover from the Philippines publicizes the U.N.'s ECAFE Commission. The 6c stamp (SC. #517) is the middle value from a set of 3 of the same design. The United Nations's logo, an azimuthal equidistant globe projection, is the central element of the stamp design.

Norway issued this 25 kroner stamp on April 26, 1998 to publicize the European North-South Campaign.

On May 16, 1994 Luxembourg issued this stamp to publicize the World Congress of the International Police Association. The stamp shows a logo of the International Police Association superimposed on a tricolor map of the country,

The logo/badge is a globe. Around the globe is the Esperanto inscription "SERVO. PFR. AMIKECO" which in English means "service" and "friendship". The "PFR" is presumably IPA (International Police Association) in Esperanto.
