Does anyone know of a source of inexpensive 18 ring binders? These are the ones that fit Lindner hingeless pages. Subway wants close to $50 for one. I don't mind buying used, but all the ones I see on E-bay want a ridiculous amount for shipping. Looking to buy 2 or 3.

I'm afraid they're just that expensive. Let us know if you do find a deal!

Specialty binders are always expensive when new. There aren't that many manufacturers because there is not enough demand to support a lot of manufacturers. Little competition means higher prices. Also, because they are specialty items, they aren't produced in very large quantities like other consumer products -- further increasing the averaged per item manufacturing cost.

But I will say, the pages turns very very nicely/smoothly on those 18-ring binders. You will basically never have to worry about torn punch holes that occur with the 2/3 post/ring binders. The drawback, in addition to price, is that the 18-ring binders can't be very thick, unlike the 2/3 post/ring binders which can hold 2"-4".

Worth keeping an eye on auctions. Most of the country lots I guy are in what would have been expensive Lindner/Lighthouse/Kabe binders. Look for a cheap lot in a decent album, then you get binder and stamps, rather than laying out a fortune for an empty binder.
