Reichsdruckerei Printing Press

I found this image online dated Reichsdruckerei 1938.

Writing on the lower border states it is postage stamp
printing (steel engraving)

Anyone know the make of this web fed rotary press?




It looks similar to this early 1960's Goebel press below in the way it was set up.

It looks like it's a Goebel press since it says in the above article clipping "Below is the 1938 Goebel press which is still in use,...."

The quote about the 1938 Goebel press refers to the small
photo not the the large photo at the bottom of the page
which is the the 3 colour press Sweden bought in 1964.

Yes I agree that all three look "similar".

One difference I noticed was that the paper width on the web roll of the Reichsdruckerei 1938 press
appears much wider than either of the two Swedish ones.

I'm curious as to what stamps were being printed.

Were the Swedish ones mostly used to print coil stamps?

I believe so going by my Michel catalogue which
shows coil print runs almost double compared to
booklet format at least up to the late sixties.

Nowadays I believe that Sweden issues most stamps
(except definitives) in booklets.

For the Stickney rotary press, the smaller presses were used to print coil stamps and the larger presses were used to print sheet stamps. Maybe the same applied to the Goebel press.
