Any Comments On The Following Mint Collections?

Unless I am mistaken, are not both collections listed the same one?

Both groups of mint Canada & Provinces are a single offering and all pages are viewable as a single set of photos.

Taking to heart the projected valuation for this grouping by a couple comments in this thread, I offered to buy the lot for $1500. Seller countered saying, "I hope you were kidding. $10,500."

It will be interesting to see if this sale is completed at any price. Granted, gum side is not revealed, but I am still incredulous that others see this group as being worth < $2,000.

So do yourself a favour, and check out Maresch & Sons Auction from this past October. Look at lot # 1129, which is the complete set of the Quebec's, in Mint F-FV condition, with some NH, and then tell me if I am wrong on my opinion of the collection in question.

At the Maresch Auction October 2015 Lot 55 -

Large and valuable mint stock in older stockbook, with Large and Small Queens, Jubilees, Leafs, Numerals, Quebecs, Admirals, a few better Imperf Pairs, blocks and plate blocks, back of the book, etc, some earlier with gum issues, many n.h. Will have huge cat. val. Inspect. Est. 6000+

Realized $5000 CDN plus 15% - at 75c on the dollar that's about $4300 USD or way less than half of $12000.

Granted it's only in a stockbook and you might have to shell out $200 for a nice album but look at what you are getting here. All the sets from the Large Queens on up including the Jubillees snd these are all Mint, many NH with blocks, plate blocks, imperf pairs !

Note that that 1st Newfoundland page is missing the most expensive stamp, the 5c Brown Harp Seal (Scott 25), the Rouletted Harp Seal (Scott 40) which is pricy and the rouletted 3c looks like it was cut top/bottom margins missing, could be a normal cut with scissors and not rouletted.

Here's a lot from Regency Superior that estimates $2000-3000 all Mint starting at Small Queens with Jubillees and all sets to 1940, some NH and complete NH to 1995 after that in Lighthouse Albums. I see lots like this in almost every major auction house sale that has a good Canada section.

Just a note that I should be able to offer a similar collection of Mint Canada and Newfoundland for $3500 USD housed in a beautiful Lindner Hingeless album (Made in Germany).

I think I'll put one a collection together and put it up on ebay. Maybe it will attract some attention.

At Stamp Auction Network, in the upper right hand corner, there are Live Auctions by big name US/Canadian Auction Houses (Siegel, Spink, etc). Now you have to register with first SAN and 2nd - the Auction House holding the auction sale.

After the Registration process you are on your way. Great site for me. If you want any stamps from Canada, singles, groups, collections, specialties. I always have alot available.

I do collect Canada and USA Mint nh stamps and I Have all the stamps on those pages (and more!) and they cost way less than 12 grand. The most money I have ever spent is $500.00CDN on a complete set of Admirals MNH. The man is delusional!

I concur with those who say that this ebay collection is not worth anywhere near $12,000. I have an almost complete, 95% used, collection of Canada from 1859 through 1973, missing about 1/2 dozen or so of the real pricy rarities. The main mint, OG, items are Scott 61, 96-103, 136-138. My 10 cent and 20 cent Quebecs are well centered, which is unusual for that issue. A few minor faults on earlies, like #16 with perfs mostly trimmed, and $3 Jubilee with tiny thin. If I was going to sell this collection, I'd look for $1,900 to 2,500. Current Scott catalog, not including the #16, is probably around $14,000 - 14,500.
