It most certainly is not

http://gbstamp.co.uk/article/rare-g...-blue-6.html

Not impossible, but how likely is it that rarities such as this are sitting around in an album that one owns?

See the difference between the regular (left) and prussian blue (right). The variety you show is the regular issue. A useful investment could be a colour key, for example https://www.stanleygibbons.com/prd/...ey/113332835 which is GBP 16.50, EUR 22.5.

The Prussian blues number in the low hundreds. The dealer price for them is around £13,000-£15,000. The chances of your having seen one for a $ are, shall we say, slight!

Tim H, Does the SG color key reflect the colors of US stamps or is it useful only for Great Britain and colonies. Thanks, John

Scanners and monitors are really bad at accurately depicting shades. If you need to compare then, as suggested, you might buy a color chart... or buy a cheap stamp with the color required.
The scan below shows two genuine Prussian Blue 1935 stamps...one posted earlier by Tim H and another from a different website. In the middle is a Prussian Blue QE2 stamp. As you see, they all look slightly different and probably to more or less an extent depending on your monitor settings. At least if you have a example such as the QE2 stamp in your hands you can make a decent comparison.

John, the SG colour key refers to standard colours so I assume it will cover US stamps too. I am happy to be corrected if I'm wrong. It's not complete by any means and there are a few odd shades here and there which aren't covered. Being from this side of the Atlantic I'm not familiar with other manufacturers of colour (or color) keys.

John

My memory is that the SG key reflected GB colour standards (I.e. not specific to stamps) overseen by the British Colour Council, and now by the British Standards Institute. So standards elsewhere may differ!

Hi everybody

Colour keys will drive you crazy. Each manufacturer of the key is a bit different. The Scott keys are good for the Scott catalogue and the Stanley Gibbons keys are good for the SG listings. Trying to cross refer will do nothing but increase your frustration.

If it makes you feel any better, Prussian Blue is something that gives expertizing committees fits as well!

If your going to question or talk color shades on a chat board it is better to put a few copies next to the one in question . Putting one scan up ,just doesn't help it is to easy for each scanner or screen to be off on how it shows color . Do something like this to give a better view to the readers .
