Remnants to me are what is leftover after everything has been picked through or sold.

A little bit same for me, I will see it as left over stamps in an album, this is why it's important to specify if the album is complete or not. I see a Minkus Global album where the guy specify country from A to Z, and it's in only 1 binder , it's easy to see that half of the pages are missing, I know it but not everyone who will purchase this album know it.The buyer will not be happy for sure.

As a buyer, I NEVER assume that a used album or a collection is complete unless the seller specifically states so. And yes, some sellers do state "complete".

For the prices that I pay for albums/collections, I can't realistically expect a dealer to sit there and thumb through every page to verify that no pages (or even countries) are missing.

Mobilman44, you can't make everybody happy, and there will always be more than a few buyers for which you can't please no matter what you do. If this buyer's only complaint is that pages were missing from a "remnant album", I really don't think you have much to be concerned about. I don't think you did anything wrong, so just shrug it off and just keep selling to your MANY other satisfied buyers and future satisfied buyers.

But yes, as stated above, the term I see more often to describe what you have is a "remaindered album", which to me means that stamps (and possibly pages) have been removed from the original album/collection.

Personally, I agree that "remainder" is better than "remnant". However, I also think that elaboration is needed, as a "remaindered" collection could be one where (1) sections or pages are missing, or (2) all pages are present but certain countries have been picked over heavily.

Regardless of what adjective is used, explicitly stating what sections or pages are missing is needed.

... the lesson here is slight of hand descriptions will get you slight of hand feedback ...

This remark has been a burr in my saddle.

So, as long as this thread has kept on, I'd like to add:

1) The word is 'sleight', not 'slight'; and,

2) I cannot readily peer into mobilman's motivations & character - perhaps there is a tree canopy blocking my satellite - but I can give him the benefit of the doubt.

We can say (and have said) a lot about the word 'remnant', but 'the use of dexterity or cunning, especially so as to deceive' is over-reaching.

Unless, of course, that tree canopy is not blocking the view from your satellite.

Cheers,

s/ ikeyPikey
