What Does Topic Locked Mean?

I posted something on someone's topic page and then I found that what I posted disappeared and the topic is locked to me. What happened? Did someone get offended with something that I wrote?

I can't imagine you saying anything offensive. I've sent a note to the powers. Hopefully someone will be able to clear up things for you.

Once in a while if a topic gets very heated or angry, it might be locked by the moderators. But that is rare.

Also, sometimes the original poster will request her/his thread be deleted because of an error or problem. Mods don't like to remove a topic if there is good information in the replies, but if there is a lack of content, we often grant the wish of the OP.

Lastly, I sometimes lock a topic if it is a duplicate or crosspost. In those cases, I generally try to post a link to the post with the most/best content. Then I lock the shorter, less-informative thread.

I see alot of topics locked might be a glitch in the system
