Don't know if anyone else has access to this information, but in my fledgling career in postal history (Canada and USA) I've been tracking down postal rates so I can decipher my old covers. Just came upon this chart which I think will be really handy. So I thought I'd share.

Rates after 1863 are available on wikipedia

Hope this helps

James,
Have you tried this?
http://www.stampsmarter.com/postalr...landing.html
If so, any suggestions to make it better? Would it be helpful to add rates before 1847?
Don

Thanks for the link Don. Will come in handy.
Didn't work with my date though. I have been researching a cover from 1835.
I've printed out the pages I linked above and have them in a handy binder on my bookshelf. Sometimes I find that easier to find than a website.

Here's a website that I constructed many years ago. It's not organized by date, but by POSTAGE PAID: http://www.glennestus.com/ratetable.html

If you are looking to interpret US Stampless covers, then why not just start with the US Stampless Cover Catalog? It has rate information in it. A modest investment in the printed literature for any specialty area will pay-back the investment cost many times over in a very short time.
