They can't not just say 2½ pence ???????? In Victoria ( Australia ) on a stamp they say three half pence for a 1½p , in Virgin Island it's 2½ penny .. they use 2d on the stamps and Scott catalog 2p for pence, everything to confuse peoples

Looks like an impression transferred from whatever paper the stamp previously adhered to.

As GeoffHa has already stated... whatever the stamp was sticking to has left traces on the back. As your stamp is not in good condition you could use it to determine the watermark for instance. Float it on top of water to loosen the impression left on the gum side and you will see one of two possible watermarks which will determine when it was printed.
No web or sheet markings were ever printed on the back of these stamps.

"dosent look like trancfer from a nother stamp"

That is correct...it is whatever the stamp was stuck onto (envelope for instance)... just as stated earlier. Nothing like that pattern has ever been printed onto GB stamps.

It is likely at some stage to have been stuck down on a "sticky" photo album. I've seen stamps with "tram tracks" on the back due to being placed at some stage in photo albums. The stamps then show the glue pattern that was used to stick the photos down.
