Found this a while back in a large lot I purchased - a mini-collection of "Forgeries". I'm guessing this is fairly old based on the collector's nice use of a calligraphy pen in for the page title. Thought some of you might be familiar with many of these. Kind of cool ...

I'd love to have a forgery reference collection, both for the purpose of enjoying/studying them in their own right as well as to protect myself from inadvertently buying one thinking it was the real thing. I only have one known forgery in my collection, although I'd actually be pretty surprised if there aren't more that I don't know about. |

Forgery collection means nothing if you don't have the reference material or the real stamps to compare too. It cost money and a lot of research to put it together. |

Since those appear to be all classic 19th century, would be interesting to compare with the same items in the Serrane Guide, published by the APS. |

That is the 2nd. stamp on the 3rd. row not the 3rd. stamp. The one that I would like to see is Orange.

Hint canyoneer always scan on a black Background. It makes for a better clearer scan. Great collection. I have a few U.S. forgeries. There are forgery collectors out there |

Too small to see for sure, but the Ionian Islands at the right of the top row doesn't look bad. Wrong paper maybe? |

I think that's a terrific collection, reference or no. I have a few, CSAs and some others I've found along the way. Not sure what the attraction is, but they certainly ring my bell! |

This is a nice little collection. As Floortrader says, you really need to have the original to make the best of the collection but this is pretty nice in itself. Well worth writing up. I have a few Spiro and Oneglia, but no Sperati in my collection. |
