Casiodoro de Reina (1520-1594) was a Lutheran theologian who (perhaps with several others) translated the Bible into Spanish in 1569. Here is an image of an airmail stamp depicting an open book, printed by lithography and issued by Chile on December 2, 1969 to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the publication of Casiodoro de Reina's Spanish language Bible, Scott No. C295. Perhaps someone at SCF could enlighten us about the significance of the rather curious illustration in the depicted book?

You can see the actual title page in this link, and the explanation under the illustration:

Another book would be The Jewish World in Stamps, by Ronald L. Eisenberg, 2002. ISBN: 1887563768. It has many stamps showing Old Testament stories in the chapter on the Bible, viewable here:

I am trying to identify which bible frontispiece is used for the cachet on the Pilgrim fdc for the Welsh Bible issue GB 1988. There is one for sale on ebay.co.uk at the moment but it does not appear to be either the 1588 bible of the 1620 one that is illustrated - both of which are available to inspect at either the National Library of Wales or Wikidestun sites.

I have not included links in this post as I am unfamilar with the etiquette - I am new to collecting and SCF. I can give them if it is allowed to link to commercial sites.

I have searched high and low for an answer but am stumped. Are there any historians or Welsh speakers out there who know?

Also why is the cachet showing the page horizontally rather than vertically? OK perhaps that one is unanswerable!

Well I think I have answered my own question - the Pilgrim fdc I was asking about above has a composite design - the frontispiece is from the 1620 Bible New Testament but they have superimposed the general bible title over the New Testament title. I am left thinking why, oh why oh why - wrong edition (it is the 1588 Bible that is 300 years old), they have messed about with the design so that it does not represent any actual historical book and the page is on its side!

You can see all the early editions here:
