Drudenfus:
Have you decided how to organize your collection? Websites like the one from Londonbus make me think it's best to keep the sets together and organize by country and/or date of issue.
I'm glad you started this thread -- it has been interesting for me to follow.

Not yet, really. I think I'll go somewhere in between, leaving sets together but not arrange them by country and date, but in the order the shown events appear in the Bible. Still not 100% sure, I need more non-Jesus stamps first Also I'm not quite sure on how to design the pages. I don't want to use stockbooks for this, but print out my own page designs. Problem is, the standard album pages don't fit in my printer and I haven't found anything convincing to use instead. |

Quote: standard album pages don't fit in my printer I'm not sure what you mean by "standard album pages" but I'd just use a nice heavy weight paper in A4 or some standard size that you can put in three-ring binder. Consider the White Ace albums -- they're very ornate and graphical, yet fit in "regular" notebooks. KirkS |

Quote: I'm not sure what you mean by "standard album pages" but I'd just use a nice heavy weight paper in A4 or some standard size that you can put in three-ring binder. All the album pages I've seen so far are bigger than A4, and thus don't fit in my printer. That's what I call a "standard" sized page -> http://www.leuchtturm.com/WebRoot/S...oc_alb_1.jpgThree-ring binder would be nice, but I can't punch three holes, only two Also I've yet to find suitable paper, of which I know if it's acid free or not and that's not totally overpriced. Quote: Consider the White Ace albums -- they're very ornate and graphical, yet fit in "regular" notebooks. I've never even heard of White Ace, I'm not sure if you can buy them over here without import. Here all you get is Leuchtturm and Safe, nothing else really. |

@Londonbus: I've read the thread already, thanks I got some A4 paper now. It's thick 150g/m˛ artist-paper. It doesn't say it's acid free on the package itself, but the website of the company says that all their products are acid free. I got 50 pages for 9,- Euro, I think that's acceptable. I'll try designing some pages for my "regular" world stamps first, though. |

That's cool Drudenfus.
There are several programs you can use to design your page -- everything from a simple word processor to desktop publishing to graphics programs.
Use plain/cheap copy paper while you're designing and printing test samples. When you get the design perfected, then you can switch to the good stuff. You should be able to find inexpensive three-hole punch - easier and more accurate than single punching.
I'm looking forward to seeing photos/scans once you get farther along in your project.

I did the first page today. But as always, just now the ink cartridge of my printer is empty and I can't print it out I don't know when I'll be able to buy new ink, this may take a while... But that will not prevent me from showing you the page I just took a screenshot of the page preview: EDIT: Hm. I think I should remove the background image. You can't really see it anyways... |

I tried some things out now, this is another try: Which one do you like better? I myself tend to the second one. |

They both look very nice! My personal preference would be the 2nd one (with no background). The background image is nice, but I think it distracts too much from the stamps, instead of complementing the stamps. Plus, you will save a lot in ink costs! Just my opinion. k |

Quote: My personal preference would be the 2nd one (with no background). I've shown the two designs in our stamp-chat and so far no one prefered the first one, so I'll go with the second design. Quote: The background image is nice, but I think it distracts too much from the stamps, instead of complementing the stamps I don't know if it would really distract that much. In the design it does, because the stamps are just in black and white. I don't know if that changes once the real stamps would be put in place, but the background is lightened up a lot, so the stamp colours should be much "richer". My main concern was, that you can't really make out what the image is supposed to be, because it's overlapped by the stamps and the textboxes. I may use a background in other sets, if they otherwise would have large blank spaces on the page. Then maybe it's a good filler. Quote: Plus, you will save a lot in ink costs! That's true |
