It is a condition that many collectors outside the United States use. It means "Unmounted Mint" (UMM). It is the same as our "Mint Never Hinged" (MNH).

UMM or UM are the terms used in Great Britain.

So all the world outside US is Great Britain ? seriously this name is bogus Unmounted .... so if the stamp is MNH in a Scott mount is it unmounted? Cause it's in a mount

I can't speak for the rest of the world, I'm afraid! I think the concept of hinging as "mounting" precedes Mr Lindner's invention.

Just as bogus as any other term in the terminology if you're going to be pedantic. "Hinged" is also bogus because the stamp could have been glued, taped, stapled etc. Context is everything in language and once understood it should be a snap unless you're ...
