I know they are not in great shape but not selling either because they are family items. I just need help with die number and what number they are in the book and also the color of the envelope. I'm thinking dark violet but could be purple again idk?
I think the die is #7 idk. dark violet and possible U437d or e. Would really appreciate the help!
The watermark on the 1st one is #38 and the other 2 are #40 if this helps?
Thank you
Newby

Thank you chasa. Do I have the die number correct at #7? One other question what does it mean in the book when it states entire after the listing?
Thanks again.

These are Die 7 purple.

Dark violet version of this 3 cent circular only exist with watermark 19 or 20 (with the 1915 year entwined within "US").

"these are purple, the violet varieties are really dark"

While this is generally true, the 3 cent purple exists across a spectrum of "purple", occasionally showing a color that is quite near to dark violet.

Best to rely on the watermark. Purple does not exist on watermarks 19 or 20.
