I rolled out a new, interactive online tool for quickly identifying Washington/Franklin stamps of 1908-1922. Of course there are several other existing web pages that outline how to do this, but this tool is quite different. As a user types in the three primary attributes (design type, domination, and perf) of his stamp in hand, the list automatically filters itself to narrow down to the correct Scott number. By using this automatic process of elimination, even a novice hobbyist can determine the correct Scott number within seconds. Don You can try it out here… http://www.stampsmarter.com/feature...rank_ID.html

Great job Don. In the last sentence of the page, the word 'the' is spelled 'teh'. No big deal, it just looks weird!

Very nice! I had thought of something like that but have neither the W-F knowledge or coding skills - sort of a reverse online configurator. You did a great job and made a terrific contribution to W-F collectors! |

Nice job Don. I'm sure it will make it much easier for many who still have problems with identification. Much appreciated! |

Thanks for a great tool. I have been using Scott's book for years and it's falling apart.

Excellent. One of the more annoying areas to perform identification accurately. I will definitely be trying it out. Thanks. |

Excellent tool! I will bookmark that one. I did notice that the image for #406 is a "two" instead of "2". |

Wow, amazing tool. I did notice that the picture for Scott #499 appears to be a #500. Not a big deal, but thought you'd like to know.
I am very impressed with your website, it's getting better every time I visit. In fact, I'd venture as far to say that it is the best philatelic website I've ever seen. Well done.

Thank you for the kind words. The 1847usa section new formatting was completed last week and there is a new 'Philatelic Term of the Day' feature on the opening page. This feature draws upon hundreds of defined terms and changes each time the page is refreshed.
themachine, thanks for the heads-up. Unfortunately, I am currently back at Duke Cancer Center awaiting another operation so it may be a few days before I can get to any updates. Don
