Don
I suppose one question before you go to a lot of effort is whether you can get the same, if a much less sophisticated, effect by simply using a thread such as this for offers and wants? The post could then be edited if and when the collector got rid of his pages or the collector found the pages he was searching for.

Geoff, I do not think you can edit posts after X amount of days and I am pretty sure they disallow anyone from deleting a post after some time. And the search feature is weak (cannot sort search results by date). On the plus side, it does have a membership database. But it was designed to be a forum, and as such is not especially well suited for other purposes.
I am not looking for a lot more work. So if the forum Gods want to run with this they can have at it and we can see how it pans out. Don |

Southpaw, Agreed. But at the same time, it has to allow each user to be able to not just post but also edit/delete their own listings. It is also paramount that there is some method that allows users to contact each other without publishing their email addresses online.
I haven't yet put any time into the database design but I would imagine the following fields at a minimum;
- User name - Email (hidden) - Date - Description of item - Manufacturer name (if known) - Condition - Country(s) - Radio buttons for 'give away', 'trade' or 'for sale' - Image(s) (thumb nails and higher resolution) - Price (if applicable) - Shipping info/cost
There are, of course, many other optional fields which could add additional functionality. It becomes a question of balance between usability and functionality. But I had dialysis today (you can tell by the length of my posts the days when I am sitting in the chair for 5 hours straight) and my head is still spinning a bit. It takes me about 12-15 hours before I start thinking straight again. I'm waiting to hear back from Duke on when they want me back down there, I'll contact you for lunch when I know a bit more. Don
P.S. I don't know if other's have seen Southpaw's US Revenue pages/album but I can tell you that it is NICE. I would highly recommend it to anyone who is serious about collecting US revs.

Hi Don - as always looking forward to our lunches. You are talking strictly the data side of things. I'm strictly talking the user interface side of things. We need to talk about how these get together. And you are right, this may not be the project with which to do this. But it's simple enough that we can focus on one task: facilitating a trade. For anyone interested in Match&Medicine stamp albums, here's your link: http://matchandmedicine.comI've been so busy I haven't had time to add stamps to the store, or activate the online store. Coming soon though! |

Don, I think it would be a good addition to Stamp Smarter, it's becoming quite a Philatelic Hub and the more functionality the better.
Hope you feel better,
Ken |

I would be interested in such a service as I have 100s of pages I would like to dispose of. I just posted a need for pages with a 10 x 13 pocket and something like this would be very helpful for me right now. Geocobabe |

I'm certainly interested in this as I am currently looking for several missing supplements for my Scott Platinum set and I have over 800 of the Safe Garant clear pages in like new condition that I don't need but should get out of my home. |

Quote: Do you folks hold on to the loose album pages from the various lots and collections you buy?
I got all exited, then realised you were talking blank pages. I have Album pages full of stamps I was hoping to trade or sell. Turkey, Brazil Etc. Some full, some partly full. Good luck with your efforts, Don, if it anything like your usual quality work, it will be a doozy. |

This was a two year old thread....um, what ever happened to the idea? I forget that we have an area for trading on here. I have several filled album pages I do not care to retain that someone else may want. |

I did not move forward with this idea last year; I may revisit the idea if I can carve out some time. Don |
