Okay, R136. But it doesn't feel like a stamp, or even look like a stamp. No perfs. Thin, very white paper. The envelope it came in is labeled R136P5.

I looked in Scott's to find a key to the nomenclature, but could not find anything, so I have no clue what the P5 means. Is this an essay or proof?

Thanks for your help.

sounds like a proof on India paper. There is no R136P5 in the current Scott catalogue, the current # for a proof on India is R136P3

I have lousy eyesight, and my merchant's penmanship isn't so sharp either. I got a lens and looked again. It is R136P3.

May I ask how you know? I just got a Scott's Specialized. and I am not very good at using it yet. I did look for R136, apparently not closely enough.

I really appreciate your speedy response.

The proofs are in their own section. Listed in the index.
