Hi all,

This was on e-bay recently, I notice.
claiming to be a world war 2 Dutch East Inides intenment camp
label.

I came across one at a stamp fair.

Question is precisely what is it?
That does seem to fit with the details on the stamp.

can anyone be accurate about its identity?
The seller said that he thought it was to do with the Indian army,
which I don't see, myself, as the Dutch East Indies fits better.

Camp run by whom for who? The title on the stamp doesn't specifically fit with the various sites that are on the internet listing ,say, Japanese POW camps in the Eats Indies area.

Never seen this one before nor heard of it! However, I do not believe it's Dutch Indies since their currency would have been a "sen" not "cents" It may be from the area since Malay $ & cents in modern Malaysia & Singapore if it is real!

I don't know anything about the origin of the 'stamp.' The notion that it is related in some way to the Dutch East Indies and the Japanese occupation probably comes from a book entitled (in English) "The East Indian Camp Syndrome." It is a collection of essays that reflects on the internment camps in general and specifically. As far as I know, there was no one "East Indian Camp."
