This looks to me like the coarse impression of the 1/2 real orange. Does anyone know what the '6' is? I'm assuming a cancel, but my other used examples from the era use either a CDS or a Vale / date cancel. It's on pelure paper, so doesn't match my other coarse orange but I'd like to know if I should put a space for it on my pages, or whether it'd be better suited to an advanced topics page in the collection.

I don`t really know. There are examples of other cancels from the same time period, though.

I also saw a numeral very much like this one on a pre-stamp cover from Venezuela that signified postage due. (Or was it postage paid?) Well, you get the idea.

Here's my first page, as you can see they are mostly CDS cancels.

Hi billsey

It looks like part of a cancel to me.

However, in case it is not, you could probably ask your question on:
http://www.asofilca.com/

The site is in Spanish but there is a Language button on the initial screen at the upper right. If you do not see the button, you can right-click the page in Chrome and select translate to English.
