Not even sure if this is the right topic forum or not, but it seems right. Found the envelope pictured and find it interesting, it seems like it did quite a bit of traveling?

Can you guys (the experts) help me out with ID's/ value, etc?

Thanks,

Dave

Hi Daveinva47

I suspect that this envelope was produced by a stamp dealer to gather as many postmarks as possible.
I have one, nearly the same, but different countries, and the stamps are placed in the same position.
I wonder who produced them, and how many were sent out?
Regards
HOramakhet

I have a few of these as well. The stamps are real, but the postmarks are completely bogus.

Looks fishy to me. Is it a gimmick of some sort?

It looks like it might have something to do with Hotels. From the looks of the addresses. Also no dates on any of the cancels. Very interesting though.

KGB: It's a gimmick - philatelic fantasy creation. Who created them? I don't know. There's never any marks pointing to who produced the covers. I usually see them in dealer's $1 boxes.

The hotel names are all bogus too with the exception of the Peninsula Hotel in Hong Kong (the creator got lucky with the name or had some knowledge of it). I would love to see a hotel on Charcot Island based on the address on the second cover. Wee chilly down there. Note the similar "cancels" on the Czechoslovakian stamp on second cover (which already has a cancel, CTO perhaps) and the Argentina stamp on the first cover. Stamps don't match the "hotel addresses" by countries in a few places as well. Argentina stamp - Brazilian address, and Yugoslavian stamp, Turkish address.

Here's something interesting:

Ironically, "TRY USA" was what made me feel certain the original post's cover was a gimmick!

1928-29, Around-the-World cover, franked with 29 stamps from sixteen stamp-issuing nations and colonies, each tied by appropriate postmark, including issues of the U.S., Gibraltar, Monaco, Italy, Greece, Egypt, India, Ceylon, Straits Settlements, Dutch Indies, Philippines, China, Japan, British Offices in China 8˘ KGV tied by Hong Kong circular datestamp. Highly attractive and somewhat spectacular item with more than four months in transit (Dec. 16, 1928 to May 2, 1929), Fine to Very Fine, presumably unique usage with the Hong Kong "China" overprint, as Weihaiwei was the only British post office still operating in China at this time.
Estimate $300 - 400.
